Dirt or Bugs on surface?

Hi all, we are new to FL, and pools in general. We have a service that cleans it weekly. However, yesterday we returned from work to find these floaters on the surface, spread all over in the pool. I could take a net and skim them off the surface and it looked like light brown dirt when scooped up.

Any ideas what this is, and how best we can treat the same?

Thanks much!

First of all, cleaning once a week is not really sufficient. You should expect a need to skim every day or every other day. How long do you keep your pump running every day? at a minimum you should see a skimming effect on these if your pump runs during the day.

 Welcome to TFP timothevs

Are you running it 10hrs a day, each day ?? 10 hrs a day seems like a little more than you should need but that's what is supposed to circulate and skim the junk off the top. Do you check your skimmer baskets daily ??
