New owner old Pool. brown layer of dust(?) leaves (?) on the bottom of the pool

Hello,

I am in the process of buying a new pump.
As soon as I have installed it I will have to clean the pool. This pool has been most likely not used of 18 month.
It has a thick (1/2 inch) layer of leaves and other debris on the bottom of the pool.

I am considering filtering the water as I am moving the dust so it get filtered.
Is there another procedure I should follow.

Any help/advices would be greatly appreciated.

I suggest that you try to mechanically get as much "junk" out of the pool first. Try this.. Pool Pals Pro Animal Leaf Rake - Sand and Silt Bag. Oreq LN4120.
