Alkalinity drops too low on new water fill

When I'm adjusting the ph to balance the water in the tub the alkalinity drops to below 50 before I can get the ph to stop drifting. I know that alkalinity is a ph booster how do I keep the alkalinity up around 50 while I still have to use ph down to get the ph to stop drifting.

Please post a full set of test results: PH, TA, CH, CYA

How high does the PH get? With low TA, it should not get that high.

+1 to a full set of test results so we can see the whole picture.

Have you added borates? You can raise TA with baking soda. More about pool chems here, Pool School - Recommended Pool Chemicals
