    Gas heater life expectancy

What’s the range of useful life for a gas pool heater? What are the usual reasons they are replaced? I'm in sunny SoCal so it's hardly used and enclosure rust-out isn't an issue.

    Re: Gas heater life expectancy

7-10 years these days. The older units would last closer to 15.

Rusted out, leaking heat exchanger, or just needs too many repair$.

A word of caution: When working with gas and electrical you might want to consider a licensed contractor. Consider the value of your life and others around you.
