I just recently moved into a house with a pool that has been neglected for years. I noticed while working on it that it has a strange looking skimmer with an offset step to it and found it to be a Pac Fab skimmer and after looking at a diagram of it, see that I am missing a flap that diverts water to suck from the main drain. every website I go to says that the part I need is obsolete. I have seen diverters that sit on the bottom of the skimmer housing, but would push my skimmer basket up too high. This is a 80's pool from what I can tell, but I need a way to skim and pull from the main drain because I am getting a lot of fine dirt settling on the bottom.

Hi, welcome to TFP! If you are pulling only from the main drain you won't need to have the skimmer basket in place.

Have you tried INYO Pools? They are pretty good at tracking down old stuff.

But I either have to pull from the main drain (via short vacuum hose between the two lines in the skimmer) or skim only. I'll check out INYO and see if they have an idea of what I need.
