Vacumn lid stuck =no flow indicator

I have two issues and not sure if they are related. Yesterday was vacumning the pool and lost suction. The pumps errored out, I reset they came on and faulted out again. Error says no flow. i removed the vacumn hose, but cant get the lid out of the skimmer. Vice gripes, prying but nothing. Its like it is welded on the skimmer. And now i cant keep pump on long enough to back flow or anythg.
Help on both or either??

It sounds like you have a clog in the skimmer plate. Suction from the pump is holding the skimmer plate down....actually air pressure is holding it down, the suction prevents equalizing. Which is why you don't tighten the pump strainer basket lid with the pump running. Getting it back off is tough.

Do you have a air relief valve on filter open it and see if releases, if no relief valve move valve to waste and let air into system
