How to keep the heat in the pool. Trying to get an extra week or two of swimming.
What is the best way to retain / add heat to my pool. I have a blue solar cover.

Keep covered unless using pool?
Does the pool heat up more when ambient temp is above pool temp with cover on or off?
keep pump on low 24 hrs per day or run high speed part of the day?
If later which part of the day?

I would suggest keeping the cover on at all times unless you are swimming and only run the pump when the sun is shining on the pool. Running the pump at night/cooler parts of the day will increase your heat loss.

I too have a blue cover and it seems I get a little more heat with the blanket off when the pool is in direct sun as long as there is no wind. We have a dark surface that may help a bit too. When this cover dies I plan on getting a clear one.
