Should I add salt now

I have a Hayward SWG that my electrician won't be able to wire for another few weeks. I have 8 hundred pounds of salt that is currently in the way of landscaping. I would like to put it in the pool but seeing the SWG won't be ready for a while now, do you see a problem with me adding it without the SWG running?
