You could, but you'll run the risk of paying a huge cost. It uses a copper ionizer to help keep algae away. With copper you run the risk of green hair and stains that are a HUGE pain to get rid of. For this risk you'll simply be able to use this product while also adding bleach as chlorine is still required to sanitize the water.

It's simply not worth any risks. You'll get almost no return plus you'll still need to add chlorine.

It's copper. I would not use it.

Thanks. I wonder why 95 people have liked it. Some reviews say they have used it for two years. Its supposed to decrease chlorine requirement by 80%, not completly eliminate it

Part of the problem is that copper "mineral" systems can be effective against algae, but they have almost no effect on bacteria and viruses that may be in the water that we can't see. Thankfully Chlorine is effective on all three, so in a Chlorine only pool we can use the lack of algae as a proxy for telling that our Chlorine level is high enough to be effective not only against algae, but also the vast majority of those bacteria and viruses that we can't see. So when you see this claim towards great reduction in required Chlorine with mineral systems, you have to ask yourself do you want only clear water, or do you want safe clear water? If you want safe clear water steer away from any mineral system as they may remove a potential warning sign about your water being un safe.

As I have said several times this year about this same device, it probably isn't even a good ionizer. The tiny solar panel will barely trickle current in to the plates, resulting in barely any copper being released.

So if it works you are paying to introduce a stain causing mineral in to your water. If it doesn't then you pay for nothing. When paying $99 for nothing is the best outcome then you have a bad situation...

Also, reviews of pool chemicals are quite unreliable. Saw a review of Pak 100 saying it was a good value, even though it is nothing but baking soda at 5x the price. Most people believe there is something magic to keeping pool water clear, rather than basic chemistry.
