PVC Pipe to replace pump to filter hose

Has anyone replaced the hose from the pump to the filter with PVC? I have my other pipes going from the pool to the filter and from the pool to the pump with PVC, but not the hose from the pump to the filter.
The reason I am asking because my dumbass turned the pump on yesterday but left the filter switch to closed position. I now have a busted hose and a half filled pool.
