New to this, just tested the water.

Results are as follows:

FC = 1
CC = .5
TC = 1.5
CH = 500
TA = 120
CYA = Could see the black dot the whole time.

Not sure where to start with getting the CYA where it needs to be, I am in the sticks so draining and refilling is not really an option with spending 1k to get it done. Any other suggestions?

You're in good luck, your CYA is low, so you need to add more, not drain your pool.



Use the Poolmath link at the top of the page to determine how much. Target adding 20 ppm and then test again in a couple of days. We want to get you to 30 without overshooting.

Once you get there, your FC target will be 4, and never let it drop below 3 or you'll be inviting algae to take hold.

You can go ahead and safely bump your FC to 4 now. Even if your CYA is only 10, it's safe to swim with FC up to 4.

To increase CYA via granular stabilizer, place the required amount as calculated by the Poolmath calculator into a white sock and place in the poolside skimmer basket. For those concerned about suction flow to the pump, suspending the sock near a return jet or from a floating device will also suffice. Best never to allow undissolved granules to rest directly against the pool surface. Squeeze the sock periodically to help it dissipate. Once dissolved, consider your CYA adjusted to that programmed (target) level. CYA test readings should show a rise in 24-48 hours, however some pools may experience a longer delay to fully register. Best to confirm final CYA in about 5-7 days before adding any more stabilizer/conditioner.

Also, your pH is not listed, but ensure that it's about 7.5 or so. Being "out in the sticks" as you are, hopefully you're not on well water or have metals/iron in the source. If you do have metals, let us know and be sure to keep the pH on the lower 7.2-7.4 range.
