Pump pressure too high?

My pump pressure is a little over 20 psi, above the red line on the filter.

I took out the filter and washed it with a garden hose, but the pressure was back up within 24 hours.

Also I noticed that my skimmer has very little suction.

Suggestions?

Your problem is typical when there is something in the water. The filter is just doing its job.

We need more info. Is the water clear or cloudy. Is it green?

What type of filter do you have? What are your current chemical readings:

Water is cloudy but not green. There is a little algae growing on the walls and I just shocked the pool.

I am using test strips so I don't know all of these numbers.
FC = 3
Total Chorline = 3
pH = 7.2
TA = 120
Stabilizer = 50

You have algae growing in your pool and it is clogging up your filter. Nothing clogs a filter faster than algae.
