    New AG Pool Owner - Making a List

    Hey everyone!

    Decided to relive my childhood and buy an above-ground pool similar to the one my family had growing up. It's expected to be installed the week of August 15th.

    I have purchased the TF-100 kit, and it's on its way. However, what other items should I put on the list to purchase before my pool is installed? Just some bottles of bleach/liquid chlorine and CYA to start? I'm trying to make sure I have everything on-hand, so I can begin treating the water as soon as I can (which will lead to being able to go swimming more quickly ).

    For all of you pool experts, if you had just purchased/built a pool, what would you be buying?

    Appreciate any info!

    Congrats on the new pool! The only two things you will definitely need are CYA and bleach.

    If your testkit arrives before the pool is installed, test the water you are going to use to fill it. No need to test CYA as there won't be any. If it is municipal water, test FC and CC. Test CH, pH, and TA for sure either way.

    Test kit arrived yesterday. Results for the water I will be using to fill my pool are:

    FC = 2
    CC = 0.5
    CH = 50
    pH = 7.5
    TA = 40

    Looks pretty good! In addition to the cyanuric acid and chlorine, it won't hurt to buy a box or two of baking soda. You can always use it on the kitchen if you don't add it to your pool for a rise in TA.
