What is this red/pink stuff on walls?

First year using the TFPC method - which is AWESOME!!!! I was cleaning the waterline with a microfiber cloth yesterday, when I noticed this weird "dirt", only at the deep end. I am posting photos which show what it looks like before and after wiping with the cloth, as well as the stain it leaves on the cloth after wiping. It is very difficult to get it off the walls - it just wants to smear. Is this pink algae? Has anyone ever seen anything like this? FWIW, here are my current test results:

I actually get that red smeary stuff inside the house, on the sink drains. I was told it was bacterial iron.... not sure if that's the same stuff you are experiencing. We have pretty hard, sulfury well water.

Yes, there is a thing called pink algae that is really a bacteria. As with most algae and all bacteria, maintaining chlorine above minimum for your CYA at all times will prevent it from getting a foothold. FC/CYA Chart. Now that it has moved in it is time to SLAM to kill it.

I think you have confirmed what I already knew - but didn't want to admit . Guess I'll begin the slam in a little while. Thanks!
