SWG and Ledger Stone

Looking for advise on going with SWG and placing ledger stone on our proposed 30' back boom beam.

Is this a good idea?

What type of stone would be recomended?

Builder is recomending ozone & cholorine but would preffer a salt pool.

Your best bet is to stay away from really soft limestone materials like travertine (use those in decking not as coping). Stone can also be sealed prior to installation to help keep water from penetrating it. there are many good products on the market for doing that.

The position of TFP so far is that the entire salt-water pool / stone degradation issue is way overblown and more a function of PBs not wanting to eat the cost of warranty work that their subs won't agree to than it is with any scientific reasons. Salt water pools are perfectly safe and not anywhere near as corrosive as pool builders make them out to be. You have to choose proper materials and find a decent stone mason to do the work but salt is safe. As long as you, the pool owner, take control of your pool maintenance and don't get caught up in being "pool stored", your pool can and will be trouble free.

You can also search our forum for threads on UV/Ozone/Alternative sanitizer systems and get the truth about them - they are toys and not adequate for proper pool sanitation. If you want a salt water chlorine system, then, by all means, you should have one and you just need to push back on your PB to get it. If the PBs you have won't build you the pool you want, then toss them in the dust bin and keep looking. This is your pool and your money, you call the shots and with the knowledge base here on TFP to search, you can easily cut through all the BS the pool industry pushes...
