Started this thread here: 1st time pool owner - No pump/filter and water is black/green
I have a few questions about pumps and what I would need. Pictures are in the above thread. Haven't had a chance to measure pool to see what size pump I need.
A pool place gave me these prices (Still trying to get the exact models):
1. 2HP Hayward pump with 150 sq ft cartridge filter - $415
2. 2HP 2 speed Hayward Matrix Pump and 150 sq ft cartridge filter - $495
Is a 2HP pump overkill or should I go with a 1.5 hp pump? Will I notice any difference between if I go with 1.5HP or 2HP? I have been reading that the variable speed pumps save on electricity.
