Start bringing the pH down- it could be higher- so aim to bring it down to 7.5. Use Poolmath at the top for the amount to add. Test 1/2 hour after adding MA and if it is still reading high (i.e. 8.2) repeat. If you are getting a lower reading then you can aim for 7.2 to prepare for the SLAM. You need to get this right first then you can deal with the CYA before then SLAMing.

    HI there

You need to lower that PH to about 7.2 before SLAM. Used pool math to tell you how much muratic acid to use to lower it. To proceed with SLAM, you'll be spinning wheels losing chlorine to sunlight if you don't bring your CYA up to the 30ish range first. You can buy that at Walmart sold as stabilizer usually. Look for no less than 99% Cyuranic acid on active ingredients. Put it in an old sock and tie in front of a return to dissolve. Or......I've been known to tie them to pool noodles. Just understand that agitating that sock will help the granules dissolve. You really don't want those granules sitting on your pool floor which created the sock method.

I'm assuming that your trying to get your CYA up. You need stabilizer/cyanuric acid not calcium hardener if that is your intention.

Try a big box store. Look for 97%+ cyanuric acid on the ingredient label. But work on lowering that pH right away!

I buy granular stabilizer/CYA in 4 lb jug at Lowes, much cheaper.

Looks like I'm missing R-0003 from my test kit, so I can't test for CC ? And my PH is still too high

I will assume that you have the necessary CYA and start the slam right now...

Keep testing for FC every hour or two to maintain the slam level for FC, until it hold the value, then you can test less often, and brush every time you can

Re: green pool help ? first timer

Yes, you can add FC and start the slam at your goal CYA level. Squeeze the sock frequently. (I just added some and I had it all dissolved within about 20 minutes with constant squeezing).
