Possible leak in return plumbing

Is it possible for dirt to be sucked into the pool from a leak in a return pipe?

I dont think so, there is pressure in that pipe when the pump is on. Maybe there could be a little bit of a venturi effect or it could leak back a little when the pump shuts off.
