I just had my pool redone new plaster coping, I did the plumbing and I got the intake and discharge backwards on my hayward valve , do you think I destroyed my DE grids ? I only had it running for about a min or 2.

Probably not. I would inspect them visually for damage, put them back and give them a try.
Got all my lines straight and installed a intelaflow variable speed pump, run very quiet, and at 2000 rpm I get 60 Gal min.
everything is running great.
Thanks for all the help. Now to wait 30 days while the pool refinisher does his stuff, then I can take over the chemicals and get it back to saltwater.
