Confused about connecting

I bought a Hayward AquaCritter auto vac. When I read directions on setting it up, I just can't understand. Of course, since mine is an Intex pool with over the wall (not in) skimmer, the instructions don't really apply. Do I need an adapter or just bypass skimmer and attach to sand filter? Help, please, I'm tired of vacuuming with the hand vac that isn't cutting it.

you may need to plumb in a T valve to connect it into your suction side

have you thought about installing a through wall skimmer

I was looking at those today. but for the moment don't want to drain pool to install. Thanks for help.

Going to try something. Disconnect from skimmer and attach vac to sand filter line. I am putting panty hose in filter basket. Just a test.....

Update : Got it done! I ended up using the vacuum part from my Intex kit, an 1 1\4 PVC elbow, and a large rubber washer that I had. Will post pics and video when I get to my computer
