Can you please tell us what type of pump you are working with and a picture would be helpful. Is the pump leaking when running and/or when idle (or both)? Thank you.

Above you will find a link to the parts, etc. I believe this is your pump. Chances are that your gaskets have deteriorated and you would need to replace them. Is there a gasket where you see the leak?
If it's coming from under the lid, you may need a new gasket. Do you get bubbles in the basket when the pump is running?
No bubbles when pump is on.
Gasket is present only two months old.
When pump is turned off large rush of water goes back into the pool after pump is turned back on. When on very little water in pump. when off pump basket is full of water and excess water leaks from top

Yes their is a thin gasket.

You may want to disassemble the pump, add lube to the gasket and carefully put everything back together. Inspect the gasket as well. If everything appears normal and you put everything back and there is still a leak, you may want to place a silicone designed for bathtubs. It can easily be removed. This should do the trick in sealing everything up. Might as well pick up everything at the same time and then you can always return what you do not need. This would be your best bet. If the gasket is bad, then you will have to order a new one.
It might appear if the water is below the return valve in the pool. That it does no leak..
