Intex SF80110 sand filter wont work in filter mode

I'm a little late setting up the pool this year. I turned on the pump for the first time and per the directions run it in backwash, then rinse then filter. As soon as I turn it to filter, there is no water coming out into the pool like it was in rinse mode. Any suggestions?
This is an above ground Intex metal pool.

Hello and welcome to TFP! Silly question but I have to ask ..... are you sure any 3-ways valves (if installed) AFTER the pump/filter are open? Were all winterized plugs removed as well? Is water being pulled into the pump as evidence by looking down into the clear lid of the pump strainer basket?

When I had very little water being pulled into the pump basket I found that the skimmer hose adaptor was clogged. On my Intex pool it is the blue piece inside the pool. I will attach a picture.
