Swimquip DES60 Collection Manifold Cracked - Replace? Repair?

The following link from a reputable dealer shows you manifold to be obsolete. http://www.inyopools.com/pool_parts_sta_rite_swimquip_des_element_assembly.aspx

At least it give you the manufacture numbers for what you need. I did another search and found this dealer who would require a call to check availability of part number 12a in the list. http://www.partswarehouse.com/Sta-Rite-Swimquip-DES-Vertical-DE-Filter-DES25-01-DES60-01-s/8897.htm

IMO any type of repair pudding will not last long if it is truly cracked. The tank top lid on my Hayward DE filter has looked like it is cracked for years. Were you seeing any DE in the pool? Was the pressure normal when running?

No DE in pool. The pressure was high, it was time for a backwash. We opened it up and found a few cracks. I can see through them, so they will pass water. The goal is to fix the problem before the part becomes unserviceable - perhaps "A patch in time saves nine" :)

I used JB WaterWeld for a patch. After cleaning and sanding, I spread the material over a large area around the cracks and let it cure. If it bonds well to the plastic, then it should support the area and prevent further cracking. If not, I'll find the chunk next time I open the filter.

One other thing to look into is plastic welding. I didnt really think it wold work but they sell kits on Amazon that literally melt the plastic back together. Doesnt always look great but wouldnt matter in your application. I Have fixed many many items that I thought never could be fixed. Look up the vidoes on airless plastic welders and its a pretty cool thing.
