Removing sand from floor

Hi all. Just replaced broke laterals and now in the process of removing a bit of sand from the floor. Trying to vacuum to waste and then tried to filter but not getting very far. Is there a better way to do this?

Would a hairnet on your pool net catch the sand?

Check to make sure it's sand by getting a sample. If it is gritty sand, maybe go slower with the vacuum? No need to vacuum to waste for just sand.
