Borax to adjust Ph After Borates Added

My spa has been wonderful since getting everything balanced and adding boric acid for borates. Yesterday I need to increase Ph and followed Pool Math's suggestion to add borax.

So the question is does indirectly adding borates via borax to raise Ph cause a problem if it also raises borates above 50?

No, borates above 50ppm are not a problem but there is little benefit, if any above that point. Health concerns aren't an issue either until levels reach 100ppm or more.

How low was the pH that you needed to raise it? It wasn't something that the aerating from the jets in the spa couldn't have handled?

yes, dumb mistake. inadvertently added acid and Ph down to 7.0. only needed 1.2oz by weight to get back to 7.6.

7 is not that low and would have risen on its own with a little time.

At any rate, raising the pH with borax will not pose a problem
