Service code 170 Jandy Aqualink RS

We're receiving service code 170 on our almost three year old pump. We contacted the company who installed the pool and were told 2-3 weeks for warranty work it's been a week and as of yet, Jandy has no record of our request being received. We were told we could still run the pump and filter if we bypass the salt regulator. Since it's been 108 here all week and the system doesn't generate enough chlorine anyway this is the route we'd like to go. Any advice on how to safely bypass the generator would be greatly appreciated.

No need to bypass anything. The 170 code only prevents the salt system from working. It has no effect on the operation of the pump.

Just add liquid chlorine directly into the pool as needed until the problem is fixed. Turn production to 0 %

Try unplugging the trisensor. If the 170 code goes away, it's probably a bad trisensor.

Thank you for your reply. The pump is turning on for a few minutes at a time, but shuts off, and nothing in the pool itself turns on during the time it runs i.e. skimmers, vacuum, sheer decent. No buttons are operational during this time either, so we have been unsuccessful in adjusting the production.

Go through all system setup and make sure that all settings are correct.

Try putting the system in "Service" mode and operate the equipment from the panel.

Try unplugging the trisensor to see if the 170 code goes away.

What pump do you have?
