CYA dropped within 48 hours

I was SLAMing out green water so keeping high chlorine levels. CYA was below 10 so I added stabilizer through the skimmer two nights ago. Tested next morning and found

CH 150
CYA 30

water was crystal clear until big swim party today and water turned a bit cloudy so tested again (48 hours after adding stabilizer to skimmer)

What accounts for the loss of CYA? Is it just that I tested too early the first time? Or the little bit of hose water I added to replace splash-out (ran hose 10 minutes)? Just want to make sure that I do it right when I add more CYA this time.

10ppm is within the noise of the test. Likely just variations in test procedure.

also, make sure you are testing in bright sunlight with your back to the sun. Lighting really matters on that test.

Add another 10ppm ... even if you end up at 40ppm that would be fine.

Don't go too crazy with adding stabilizer. (CYA) It takes up to two weeks for it to show up on your test results. GO EASY! If you add too much you are back to draining the water.

Actually, we have found that most all CYA is testable withing 24 hours so we have lowered our guideline to wait 48 hours before testing.

I have found in particular this year that what Walmart is selling dissolves more readily than in years past. And it showed up on my tests.
