New guy - First time pool owner

Hi, my name is Aaron. We just bought our first house here in Scottsdale, AZ and it'll be our first time owning a pool.

Pool equipment is very old and dated and am already having some issues with the spa draining into the pool when all equipment is off. But I also joined here to learn how to maintain my pool by myself instead of hiring someone. Glad to be here and hopefully I can learn a ton!

HI Aaron and welcome to TFP! You can certainly maintain yore pool yourself. It starts with the proper test kit though (TF-100 link below). Make sure to visit our Pool School page to start-off on the right foot, and check-out the TFP Table of Contents which also help you quite a bit as well. Nice to have you with us.

    Welcome to the forum!

Begin with this article: ABC's of Pool Water Chemistry. This boils everything you need to know about managing pool water chemistry down to one page.

A good test kit is an investment, not an expense.
