Intex Krystal Clear only lasted one season

I've seen all over the threads that the Intex SWG only last about 2 years. Mine unfortunately didn't even make it that long. I keep getting the low salt error, I have vinegar cleaned it out multiple times, verified the salt levels but it still beeps at me. Part of me want to just switch to bleach, but the other part of me knows I'm lazy and that we will be gone for a few long weekends this summer and I'm setting myself up for failure.

Before I drop the $ for a new one, does anyone have any other ideas on how to fix the unit or is it dead?

Also, does it hurt to go bigger? I have found a 15,000 gallon SWG for cheaper than the 7,000 gallon. My pool is under 7,000 gallons.

You can buy a replacement cell directly from Intex. It's been a couple of years, but the last one I bought was $69 shipped.

Vinegar is weaker than the MA/water for cleaning, even after using it is there any visible scale left in it?
