Took apart my filter grids and cleaned them up. Put it back together and turned pump on. I then added the 5 scoops of de powder to skimmer. After running for 5 mins i noticed i had a leak at tge gasket. So i had to drain out some of the water from the filter which had some new de in it because the water was a milky color. I cleaned up the gasket and put back together with no leaks. My concern is that i lost some of tge new de when i had to drain some? I did go back and add one extra scoop after i fixed the leak. Any input or advice?

I don't know a lot about DE filters but is that enough DE? Do you have the manual and know how much to add?

My filter calls for 5 scoops which i did. However since i had to then drain some of the filter to repair the leak im wondering how much i lost. Guess My question is how long after adding the DE to the filter does it take to coat the grids.
