    fmladineo - Greetings from Houston

First-time pool owner and was tired of dealing with iffy pool guys for a few months who didn't always show up. I'm looking to DIY maintain my pool and am currently working to get it restored. It turned green while my wife was at the hospital giving birth to our child. Just ordered my test kit and hope to understand my equipment soon enough.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on taking charge by ordering the test kit.

While you are waiting for the test kit to arrive, I would suggest browsing this article: ABC's of Pool Water Chemistry. This boils everything you need to know about managing pool water chemistry down to one page.

This one will give you an overview of pool equipment: Visual Encyclopedia of Pool Equipment

A good test kit is an investment, not an expense.
