Measuring Instant Conditioner parts per million

When I asked for cyanuric acid at our local pool store, I was given a bottle of Instant Conditioner, on which it is labeled as a salt, not an acid. Using test kit TF-100, will the test for CYA accurately measure what the amount of instant conditioner should be? It seems that a salt would need a different reagent to be measured for ppm.

    Hi dj,
Instant conditioner is CYA. The really expensive kind. However if you could state specifically, the brand and name of the stuff, just to be sure, we would look it up and confirm it for you.

Most of us use the cheap stuff from wal mart or wherever has the best price.
The stuff we use is known as stabilizer or stabilizer and conditioner (the ingredient is Cyanauric Acid). It comes in 4 lb jugs for about 15.00

If what you have is actaully liquid conditioner (CYA), and you put it in the pool, the tF test will measure it.

The stuff you have will work fine, it's just expensive stuff.

2.6 ounces (volume) of liquid stabilizer is equivalent to 1 ounce (weight) of regular cyanuric acid.

That will raise the cyanuric acid level. Once it's in the water, it's exactly the same as regular cyanuric acid.

PoolMath includes liquid stabilizer in the effects of adding chemicals section and the cyanuric acid calculator.
