Need a pump timer

I hope this is the right section.

Bought a house with a pool. We have been running the pump 24/7. I know nothing about pools, previous owner said he ran the pump all the time. Reading here it seems it's way over kill. What kind of timer should I buy? What information do I need to supply that should be helpful? Pool has a SWG. I don't need anything fancy, just want it to be easy to setup and to work. Last month's electric bill was insane and I'm thinking it has something to do with running the pump all day every day.

I have a very simple one like that.....with a freeze protection. It kicks on when the temps drop to about 36. Good enough for us here in SC
