Just got my Taylor K-2006 test kit! Looks like TA is high with low PH

Location: Northern NJ
Pool size: 16x32 Vinyl Liner, 20,000 gallons
Pool temp: 82 Degrees

FC= 3.6
CC= .4
pH= 7.1
TA= 180-190
CH= 110
CYA= 90


It looks like TA is high and my pH is a little low. Correct me if I'm wrong, from my understanding, I can't raise the pH without raising the TA.

Any advice is appreciated.

You can raise pH without affecting TA by aerating. Do you have any water features? A slide, waterfall, etc?

Also, from now on you can do a 10ml test for FC/CC. The directions are on the inside lid of your kit.

You can point your returns up so that they stir the surface water. Also, cannonballs work too!

My return is always facing up. What about the air pumps used to create bubbles in fish tanks?

Your CYA is high so you need to drain some water. Depending on the TA of your fill water, draining some water may take care of your TA issue.

We get afternoon breezes here...pH will raise readily, about .2 every three days. It moves faster if the kids have friends over.

Draining water isn't an option right now. I'm going to have to live with the high CYA for the time being. Plus the water is crystal clear and I don't have any algae.
