Sand filter deep clean

After two years, I finally took the plunge and deep cleaned it. All I can say is wow!

This year the mesquite tree west of the pool has been raining pollen down on the pool and clogging the filter. Tried filter savers in the skimmer but those just get clogged in about 15 minutes.
The deep clean did wonders for my water flow.

Wow, That is almost another layer of filter material on the sand.

Not sure if you did this or not, but I go one step further and remove the 2 phillips screws on the grey piece and remove that entirely. There is an awful lot of stuff that gets inside that as well. Once removed you can hit it with the hose and really get it cleaned up.
