Where do you wash your filters?

I'm talking about cartridge filters where you take them out and hose them down.

I'm still a relatively new pool owner, and I haven't cleaned my filter out, but I plan on doing it this weekend.

In the backyard, we have an artificial lawn, so I don't want to do it on that. We have a patio, and I certainly wouldn't be averse to dirt or bits of stuff on it which I can hose down, but I don't know what it'll look like. I hope there's not serious gunk.

So what do you all do? Do it on the patio and hose stuff to the side? On your lawn? On your driveway and hose out to the gutter? (Probably not cool but not uncommon.)

This is probably a silly question, but I thought I'd ask. Hopefully, the filter just won't be that dirty and this will all be moot.

I use a drainage area in a narrow sideyard. It needs to be a place where you don't mind a pile of stinky gunk from the filter.
