pump kicking off

Posted under wrong topic but. Pentair pump for above ground pool. Normal conditions pump trips breaker after 30 seconds and doesnt sound like it running full strength. With valve on closed, pump sounds normal and doesnt kick breaker. Its like no water, motor sounds strong, with water it kicks breaker. And ideas. Thanks.

Could be a bad run capacitor (if the motor has one) Is this a current setup that just started doing this or is it a new pump?

Its just started. Pool and pump are about 6 years old. Not sure where the capacitor is.
