Additional equipment for an above ground Intex pool

We are ready to break our pool out of the box and set it up for our kiddos. We've learned that the stock pump that comes with the pool is not effective. Please break down (with Amazon links, if possible) all the basic equipment we could purchase to keep our pool sparkling and safe for our kids. We do not know the first thing to owning a pool but since our children have lived in a small blow up pool for the past few summers- we took advantage of last summer's clearance items and made this larger-pool purchase. Any assistance will be appreciated! *we also have hard water, if that info is useful.

Really not much to it, a decent pump and filter that can be bought used off craigslist for small money. For a smallish pool, one with low speed may be best. Having the pump on a timer is helpful, some pumps have them on the motor. Steps are nice. You could add a cheap Intex SWG too. Would you take it down at the end of the year? If so that means new water every year so not a big deal to use pucks.
