Pentair 120 elect heat pump

New system. We have a pool service for system and pool but I keep telling my pool guy. Something is not right with Heater. I don't want to kill at $4,000 heater. Want to know when the heater hits the temp (84). Should the heater stay running to cool or it's ok to shut down because the pump is still running

What is wrong with the heater? Tue heater should shut down automatically once the temp is reached and then start again when the temp drops. Heat pumps don't get hot like gas heaters do and don't require a cool down. Many gas heaters no
longer require it either.
