CYA is high

Please take a look at these to get this straightened out ...
ABCs of Water Chemistry
Recommended Pool Chemicals

Baking soda only raises TA a significant amount
Muriatic acid lowers pH and TA

Neither have anything to do with CYA.

How are you chlorinating your pool?

Thanks for the info. I'm guessing that my CYA has jumped up due to initially using pucks and haphazardly adding stabilizer. My current readings are: TC=1, CYA=180, Alkalinity=180, pH=8.2

Pool store told me to broadcast 8 cups of baking soda once per week to "prolong the life of my liner". Is there any truth to this or any benefit to regularly adding baking soda irrespective of alkalinity levels?
