I got my TF-100 today. I mixed the r-7065 to the bottom of the label. And the r-0013 to the top of the label. Shook it waited 30 seconds but the dot is still as visible as it once was. Filled up

I believe you should fill the squirt bottle to the bottom of the label with your pool water,, then to the top of the label with the R-0013,, shake,,, wait 30 secs, shake again and test.

There is a test that comes with it that is supposed to train your eye on how it looks.
That is a recent addition/upgrade to the TF-100. Most of us are not familiar with how to do that 50 ppm sample. Time for us to learn!

Directions for R-7065
1. Fill the red-capped CYA mixing bottle to the bottom of the label with R-7065 (it is the “pool water”). Now, fill the bottle to the top of the label with R-0013 (in 8 oz. bottle).* Mix then wait at least 30 seconds. Mix once more.
2. Next, get the clear tube marked CYA View Tube and holding it at waist level (so you can look down into tube) slowly fill the view tube with the solution you have mixed. Keep filling until you no longer see the black dot in the bottom of the tube. *You should have a reading of 50 ppm, give or take 5 ppm.
So, it looks like you performed the test correctly. Did you do it in bright light? Inside or outside? The CYA test is recommended to be done outside , bright sunlight behind you.

Outside, sun to my back. I also tried pool water. Crystal clean, could see the dot plain as day. With both sets of water.
I assume you are saying that R-7065 mixed 50-50 with R-0013 resulted in a clear solution.....is that correct?

The Taylor 50 ppm CYA sample is a known 50 ppm sample. As long as the process is followed correctly then that is what 50 ppm of CYA looks like in the tube. The sample is really designed to train your eye to be able to read the test correctly.
