Pump &/or motor needs replaced

Our pump was running for a couple days with low water levels and I'm sure air got in the pump. Pump was also on for a bit while lid to pump skimmer was not screed on. It is now making a very loud noise and seizes up. How can I tell if it is the pump motor or the bearings in the pump that need replaced?

First, the bearings are part of the motor. You can replace motor bearings if you have the tools and know how. You can also just replace the motor so you don't need to buy a new pump.

And yes, new pumps come with the motor.
