Hi. We are trying out an 8' 600 gallon easy set pool to see if we want to get a big above ground one. A test, to see if we will use it and maintain it properly.

I'm afraid, we've already fallen behind on maintenance and now we need some advice.

We ordered the bobber thing to put the chlorine tablets in. The problem is, we didn't realize the tablets didn't come with it. So the pool has sat for 6+ days with the cover on (too cold to swim) with no chlorine. The tablets finally arrived but now I'm concerned about water quality.

Is it enough to add the tablets now or have we made bacteria soup??? We've been in the pool once, when we first set it up.

What can we do to avoid dumping out all the water and starting over? Anything?

Thank you!

welcome! a pool (even a small one) is a commitment of time and money. You need to read as much as you can on maintaining good water quality for your pool, and then commit to buying the necessary supplies to keep it that way. It doesn't have to be expensive either. Get rid of the floating thing, and the pucks..and read up on how to use the "BBB" method, which basically Bleach, Baking Soda and Borax. These 3 items can be purchased cheaply, and are pretty much all you need to keep your pool happy. Plus a good test kit to check your water at least once a day or so.

Good luck, and happy reading.
