TA increased from 60ppm to 100ppm?

City tap water - pH 7.7, TA 50ppm, CH 50 ppm.

After balancing - pH 7.5. TA 60ppm, CH 160ppm.

I removed several pails of water and relaced with tap water to lower the CH below 150 ppm.

Added Gentle Spa (4 oz per 150 gal) to get 40 ppm.

Added (125ml per 1000L) sodium bromide to get 30 ppm.

During the 3-4 days of water balancing I maintained around 3 ppm FC by adding 1-2 oz 10% sodium hypochlorite daily.

Today my pH is over 8 and my TA is 100ppm.

If the TA was 60 ppm and I added 40 ppm Gentle Spa should the TA be 100ppm?

What did I do wrong?

hmmm, it looks like the gentle spa raised it but whatever reason just drop it back down using MA and once back around TA60 your PH should stabilize also

Gentle Spa is supposed to be Borax + enough acid to counteract the Borax but apparently they must not add enough acid.
Maybe save yourself a few $ next time and just use Borax from the grocery store since you'll have to add your own acid anyway.
