Hi everyone,

Quick question on reading the Taylor PH test.

For the last two weeks every time I test for PH, as soon as I add the drops and shake it, the color immediately turns purple which would be a PH around 8.0. Then I wait for 10 to 20 seconds and the color settles in at 7.8. My question is should I be using the immediate reading of 8.0 or is it ok to wait the 20 seconds and use the 7.8 measurement?

Thank you!

welcome to TFP :)

Use the very first color change, it may be over PH of 8.. using muriatic acid drop your PH and TA.. because you have added borates your PH and TA will move very slow so it will be a longer process to drop your PH...

I hope this helps :)
