CYA loss

What is a normal CYA Loss over a week? I lost 10 ppm from last week to this week. I did a slam last week and everything is great right now. Only losing about 2-3 ppm of chlorine a day. Just curious if 10 CYA loss is normal. It was 45 last week now it is at 35.

Normally we don't experience a big CYA loss each week unless there was a tremendous amount of water exchange. Per "month", maybe 3 ppm or so give or take in areas with intense heat exchange. However, sometimes during a SLAM a pool can experience some CYA loss as noted HERE. Either way, I would simply bump it back to where you need it in preparation for summer and check occasionally as required. Have a nice weekend.

Yeah, that'll be OK. I'll be a little surprised if you lose that much next week. On average, I don't think your CYA loss will reach 10 ppm.

Test it next week and let's see where you are.
