Testing for TA, should I stop when it turns pink or red

Hi Everyone,

I've been testing my pool water fairly regularly and wanted to know if I should stop my TA test when the water turns to pink or red? My Ta has been 100 when it turns pink, 110 when it turns red. Which should I use?

The rule for all drop based tests is continue adding drops until the last drop produces no color change, then subtract that drop. That last part is key... add drops until the color doesn't change anymore. So in your case, you'd likely want to add a 12th drop to verify that it doesn't change further and your TA would be 110.

Keep adding drops until the last drop results in no change of color. Then subtract the last drop.

I would use the red, and therefore the reading of 110. Basically, you add drops until the color no longer changes. The final drop, that does not change the color any further, does not count. So if you added 12 drops, but the last drop did not change the color any, you would not count the 12th drop and therefore use 11 drops to get your reading.
