Okay, I Lied - Another Question

Just in case.....what are the signs and symptoms that your pump and/or sand filter is NOT working correctly? Possible channeling of sand - symptoms?

The outflow is good...motor on pump squeals a tad SOMETIMES, but otherwise sounds normal. However, JUST IN CASE....what is the symptom of sand filter channeling????? Our sand is now on it's fourth season ( previous thought 3 seasons). I have read that alot of you do not change your sand. My pressure is always good, at 10.

Generally you'll have low PSI(not much higher, if any than the Recirculate mode). But, the thing most people notice first when their sand has channeled is debris back into the pool through the return(s).

Easiest way to be sure is to just take the top off the filter and look.

Pressure seems to stay around 10 or 11. No debris going back into pool

Then the sand is probably not channeled. As long as the water is staying clear I wouldn't worry about it.
