Drained 90% and refilled today.

Hello and welcome to TFP! Fresh water proceed as follows:
- Add stabilizer for a CYA target of 50. To increase CYA via granular stabilizer, place the required amount as calculated by the Poolmath calculator into a white sock and place in the poolside skimmer basket. For those concerned about suction flow to the pump, suspending the sock near a return jet or from a floating device will also suffice. Best never to allow undissolved granules to rest directly against the pool surface. Squeeze the sock periodically to help it dissipate. Once dissolved, consider your CYA adjusted to that programmed (target) level. CYA test readings should show a rise in 24-48 hours, however some pools may experience a longer delay to fully register. Best to confirm final CYA in about 5-7 days before adding any more stabilizer/conditioner.
- Increase FC with regular bleach (generic is fine); plain - NOT splashless or scented. Shoot for a day 1 target of about 3 ppm. Tomorrow, increase FC to the 5-7 range, and never let it drop below 4. If you have a heavy swimming load one day, give the FC a little spike of about 2-4 ppm as well.
- Check pH. You want it in the mid-7s. If it's high, lower with muriatic acid using the Poolmath calculator again. If it's low, aeration, soda ash, or borax will work.

Start with those three. After an hour or two of mixing, post a full set of results back here (excluding CYA) so we can see how those and look at TA and CH as well.

Nice to have you with us.

You'll also need a kit that info is in pool school as well.
Absolutely! I zipped right over that little item. That should be priority #1. Either a TF-100 (link below) or Taylor K-2006 test kit. Do not settle for anything else or you may compromise everything you are doing or adding to the water. Take no risks.

I would suggest the TF-100 from PoolSupplyWorld as it will ship out of California and get to you right away.

read "The ABC's of Pool Water Chemistry" up in Pool School.....that'll get you started.
