Unhappy Pool pump turns off after a couple hours

This is the first time opening the pool. I moved into a home and the owner had this above ground pool for ten years. It is a 24 ft pool. It has a sand filter. The first problem i had was the motor. It was shot. I then got another motor and everything was working fine, but now it is randomly turning off. When i turn it back on, dirty water will shoot out of the jet inside the pool for about 30 seconds or so and then clear up. I am a beginner and have no idea what I am doing.

    Welcome to TFP!

What is the pressure on you filter now? And when backwashed?
When is the last time you cleaned the filter?
How about the pump basket, is it clean?
